My name is Alla. I am a mother of two beautiful boys. They challenge and delight me, and make me a better human.
I am open minded, curious with a good sense of humor. Living and parenting in SF Bay Area for over 20 years. I love people, plants, pets, coffee, tea, books, cooking and journaling (sometimes simultaneously). Ask me what my New favorite dish is.
I trained as a birth and postpartum doula almost 8 years ago. Each family I work with teaches me something new about birth, people, babies and choices. Each person shows yet another way of dealing with unpredictable, uncomfortable and ungrounding. If you will ask me what my philosophy is I would say what parenting taught me:
It’s important to be flexible and have a sense of humor.
If you can do that you are already ahead of the game.
While I was pregnant with my first child I took a childbirth class that helped me understand what I wanted for my birth and how I can achieve it. A woman who taught this class was a doula. I am very grateful for our encounter and her impact on my life. She helped me to unfold my perception of birth as well as my role and involvement in it. I had a wonderful birth experience, not without challenges, but in a peaceful environment, with great respect to all my wishes. My life was forever changed by my birth experiences.
Women should birth where they are safe and it might be a different place for different women. Every family deserves to experience the transcendence that accompanies having a great birth experience.

Every birth is new. It is a continuous learning experience. I’ve been always very curious about “how things work” and finding patterns (math, physics, biology and art were my favorite subjects in school). Birth provides an endless fascination with the environment where things are often unpredictable, yet there are common patterns.
